Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): Planning Your Gift

Lucile Packard Foundation Children's Health

Thank you for supporting us through your qualified charitable distributions.

Berta and Donald Sugarman have supported Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford for 40 years. In addition to their annual gifts, Berta volunteers with our hospital's Association of Auxiliaries for Children. In the last few years, Donald and Berta started sending their annual gifts from their retirement account, using a tax strategy called a qualified charitable distribution.

Watch this video to learn why this was the smartest way for them to support the causes they care most about. For Donald and Berta, that was the Auxiliaries Endowment at Packard Children's Hospital.

What is the cause that matters most to you?

Here are the top three benefits of a QCD:

1. You can give up to $100,000 tax-free each year

2. A QCD gift won't be included in your taxable income

3. Every penny of your donation will support the charitable cause you chose
